Improved Human Rights Campaign Equality Index score from 50% to 100% in one year.

Background:

One national company had achieved a Human Rights Campaign (National Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Advocacy Organization, www.HRC.org ) Equality score of 50% and as a result had received negative press coverage in national media.

Strategy Implemented:

Upon assessing the situation, began networking and engaging company executives, senior management and employees in the importance of being an equitable workplace for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) employees. Developed and added Transgender Anti-discrimination Policy and Procedures to company's employee handbook. Provided training on GLBT and Transgender issue. Using established relationships and contacts with national GLBT organizations began positioning company as a true supporter of the GLBT community.

Results:

Company achieved a 100% score on the HRC Index the following year and was nominated as most improved company for GLBT policies.
